The creation process starts with a compositional sketch which is always presented to the client for approval before work starts on the painting itself. This watercolour of a Portuguese villa was built up in layers, beginning with pale washes of colour and ending with the darkest tones and details. The painting was professionally framed and delivered to the client 'ready to hang'.
